The Christmas Story Is Light in the Darkness

I think even for people who aren't going in the direction of a Christian church year, there ought to be a sense of what the Christmas story is, which is light in the darkness. Even when we come to the birth of Jesus himself, it's in the context of a king who's seeking to murder the Christ child. I mean, all of those things are there in a way that it makes me think of what Jesus says when he's talking to his disciples about the end. We don't need to sort of uncode these sort of secret things that are happening in our culture.
