The Role of Intuition in Psychotherapy
As a therapist, I have to be tuned in to that person's emotional space and so empathy and intuition become the primary forms of cognizance rather than intellect and conceptual intelligence. So where psychotherapy can come in, also basic meditation, is in the service of being honest with what is really our capacity. People drawn to the higher teachings, like non dual teachings, can sometimes overestimate their capacity. Whereas, I think the bigger majority of people underestimate our capacity for simply being present.
