Is Carbon Dioxide a Bad Thing?

The apocalypse types are pushing extreme weather events as being caused by warming. It's conceivable that there is some element of contribution from fossil-fueled warming to this, but it's impossible to discern. We're not doing much in the way of reducing emissions anyways. And we're just making ourselves less prosperous and more vulnerable to extreme weather events.
