The Inhibitory Problem of ADHD

Inattention and disinhibition are two dimensions of ADHD. They're highly correlated with each other, so most people have problems with them both. But there are three aspects to this inhibition problem that aren't noted in the DSM-5 but are actually more compelling. People with ADHD show what is called a high time preference, which is to say they opt for immediate small rewards over the pursuit of delayed rewards. The self control of emotion is impaired in people with ADHD.
