The Drama of Creation
Bible's first two chapters back to back are not one comprehensive narrative but the same story told from different perspectives. Both are narrative but Genesis 1 reads a little bit more like poetry and Genesis 2 reads a littlebit more like prose. God lets Adam feel his divine longing by seeing every created thing, then allows him to search for fulfillment in all of creation without finding it. The first task assigned to the first human being was one that allowed humanity to feel isolation and a longing for union. It is this response which at last is pours forth from Adam with woman as his counterpart.
