What Is the Police Power?

The emergence of the police in its broader sense really is part of the emergence of capitalist modernity itself. The idea that the police exist in order for crime control, in order to enforce the law is precisely what legitimizes police activities within the broader process of policing and civil society. It's an order that means that the whole discourse of crime and law is actually a way of facilitating policing to create and recreate an order organized around dispossession, exploitation and accumulation.
