The Tiger of Mysor

The automaton tiger was one of the prized possessions of the sultan of the kingdom of mysor at the end of the eighteenth century. Beneath the tiger is a man being mauled to death by the tiger. If you turn a crank on the figure, the man's arms move and he makes dying moans. It would be easy to saunter through the victoria and albert museum without fully understanding who had had the strange mechanical animal built. I'm dana schwartz, and this is noble blood.
