The Difference in Methodology Between Living and Non-Living Things

Rand is concerned with how we should conceptualize the difference between living and non-living things. We need a concept to understand what it is that living things act towards, she says. That's what she's doing in reaching the conclusion that the concept of life only has validity in the context of the needs of living organism. And you know, maybe on some planet far off in the galaxy, there are creatures made of something very different from the kind of carbon matter that we're used to but they engage in the kind of living processes that Rand is talking about.
