Soi sting is about body shaming, sex shaming culture and the valuation of how we treated women back then. A lot of the book is unravelling what really went down behind the scenes between scully and moulder. Allegedly they hooked up while filming the pilot but it didn't end well. They had to reform all the sexual tension when they'd already boned. And for a while they hated each other. It's like the opposite of a slowbur - it's likelike enemies to lovers. The tension between the actors and the tension between the characters is completely opposite of what actually happened.
