My mom, her sister who was 16 pregnant and her four brothers came to the US. They didn't want to get drafted into fighting for the Contras or the Sandinistas. Both of those sides were just kind of picking up young men off the street. I remember one story, my aunt shared with me, and this is trigger warning. This is, we're talking about a civil war here. So there's death in it.
