The Human Genome Project
When geneticist Francis Collins and his team first embarked on the Human Genome Project, it was a daunting task. They wanted to map out the order of the three billion base pairs that made up a tiny molecule, our DNA. And just over a decade, they did it. We are doing something pretty profound here that's never been done by any species on this planet or maybe in the universe. This ushered in this new era in artificial intelligence, the era of machine learning.
