The Neuroscience of Blind Vision
Some people have brain damage that stops them seeing part of what we would normally see. They will describe themselves in some part of the visual field as being totally blind. But if you ask say could you point out or could you grasp the glass on the table in front of you, they'll say well, I don't see anything in front of me. And if you persuade them, just try. They'll reach beautifully, fluently. The hand will open and extend. It's a kind of unconscious seeing.
