Some said that the place was cursed, that the people who had lived here offended the gods and provoked their wrath. The shepherd knew better. His grandfather had lived in the city as a boy serving the kings who had once lived there. He'd been told of hurriedly fleeing Hachut Shab before the raiders arrived. There was nothing to fear here except for twisting an ankle on an unseen half-buried piece of debris.
