Zen Gaku-Ren Factions and the Cultural Revolution
Many of these Zen Gaku-ren factions were anti-Japanese Communist Party. Several were radically Maoist factions enamored of China's Cultural Revolution. The result was the descent of Tokyo University into organized chaos and outright violence. Unlike in the United States, it's pretty hard to get weapons in Japan.
