The Impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic on Tourism in Africa
In 2019, in South Heron Africa, tourism was worth around $169 billion. That's around 7% of the region's GDP at that time. Tourism is really important to the African economy. It can help make the economies more resilient to shocks. But when the shock comes from a global pandemic, tourism won't help.
