Matera is one of the most stunning small towns, small cities or large towns of Italy. It's had this very tragic history where for the better part of the first half of the 20th century it was a community of cave dwellers living in homes that were carved directly into the side of the mountain. Now people have returned to this part of Matera and they've begun to build new businesses in them.
