With an object, we call that discrete because it's not a measurement model. So if you look at grid paper and you outline a four rows by five columns with all the grid marks in the middle, then that is a closed array. An open array is where we have well chosen grid lines. Similarly, with area, I can have a discrete or maybe I should say with arrays, I can Have a discrete array of objects to a closed number line.
