Deep neural nets are one of the closest analogs to the human brain we have. They can become over specialized at that and they will see a trade off for memorization or generalization for other tasks. The overfitted brain hypothesis is suggesting that this could be the same issue we're facing. We also might get over specialized. If I'm doing the same thing, especially if I'm an animal surviving every day, I wake up, I graze, I go to sleep.
