How Did the Schools Make Our Students Smarter?
Before the civil war, before 18 65, there was a lot most people learned at home. There were some schools, but they were kind of private and small. He says it worked very, very well that in early america, until 18 65, so about the first hundred years of america, that most of the population could read very well. In fact, if you look at books for children, like fifth grade, grade five, from that time period, 18 65, he says, it's, it's equal to almost college level now. It just shows that how the schools have made our students stupid now."
