The History of Borders in Europe
In 1648, a piece of Westphalia was signed by 109 principalities and imperial kingdoms. It basically agreed in 1648 that an absolute sovereign state could not interfere the domestic affairs of another. This era has also been described as one of the largest periods of involuntary migration in human history. The transatlantic slave trade trafficked 12.5 million enslaved African people between the 16th and 19th century.
