A platform has two simultaneous different business models with a small point of intersection. The hard part about the platform is not the technology, it's demand. How do you get producer demand and consumer demand? I see an interesting trend that many platforms actively build communities for the users on both sides to connect them directly to each other. And in some ways, even though the platform is incredibly capital efficient, it also fools people into thinking that this should be easy.
