I think that the experence of the encounter with death, in admitting that it will happen to you, forces a kind of authenticity that permeated most of former societies. And because they retire lae moternity, yes, much more so. But, but furthermore, the tentire moternity is engineered this idea of avoiding that you will die, and that you need to come to terms with that. That's created this spectacle society that is nihilistic in so many different ways. The discovery of this idea that god could even exist or have any potential meaning beyond the material world, is so radically different from most people,. They couldn't accept it without lots and lots of work
