The biopics are, they're kind of this weird screenwriter hack that's going on right now. The reason that these are so popular is because screenwriting is changed to the point where you can't write like Star Wars anymore and expect to sell that. Usually it's horror movies, comedies, every now and then a bad mom's Christmas or bedmums. That's my go to reference. Those kind of comedies that are high concept will sometimes sell on spec.
