The Geospatial Distribution of Obesity in the US

Vos at AL 2014 found that US military members assigned to high altitude locations greater than 1,960 meters had a 41% lower chance of becoming obese. The worst affected states are all clumped together between Indiana and Ohio and Mississippi and Albuquerque. Demographic factors and altitude could adequately explain the geospatial distribution of obesity in the US.
