The Importance of Beginning Band Music

I'm always with my concert band trying to program the easiest possible music. My favorite tradition every fall is one of our elementary schools who feeds into us as I say, all right, what are you going to play on your fourth grade winter concert this year? Because that's what I need for the sixth grade band this year. And it's things that you use really just like maybe five or six notes that have really been used in a beginning piece. It's something where there's like more than one pitch happening harmonically at a time.
