The Importance of Positive Feedback in Speech Training
For me, and I will fully cop to this, I am not a very quick language learner. And so for much of my life, the culture rewarded me with Oh, you're so facile. So what I would encourage anybody else who gets excited about expanding their accent inventory is to come back to a process that they have already mastered. Disregard how fast or slow you are. Come back to that process of mimicry. Remember that it takes children years of constant positive feedback,. It's any child who's ever received that negative feedback about their speech can tell you how crippling that is to their language journey.
