Researchers are hoping to use CRISPR to create plants that grow longer roots. If CO2 is secreted out of the roots, deep into the soil, it'll make more work for it to come back up. Researchers want to know if microbes in the soil can be edited to stabilize the soil and take and hold onto CO2 better. Basically, genome editing microbes to capture more carbon.
