imean: I describe the book as a first person essay against race. My daughter marlow was born in two thousand 13, and it was really realizing that it would be kind of insane to send her out into the world a just simply describing herself in these old plantation terms. It wasn't that i saw my daughter, who has blonde haire, blue eyes, really light skin, could pass for swedish. It wasn’t that i saw her as white.
