The Importance of Propellers in Spacecraft Design
When you're dealing with electric propulsion, a big deal is high voltage. And one of the most challenging pieces is when you have these high kilovolt materials, if they get hit by radiation, they break down. So to make this all work, there were a number of tricks that I mentioned a little bit earlier,. One of them was using your propellant as shielding. Another one was a boom, the further you put something away, the less radiation you get.
