The Impact of the Protests in Lima

The majority of deaths linked to protests are from the Indigenous population. Blocking roads and other access routes is aimed at disrupting vital industries like mining and tourism. Hundreds of tourists were left stranded there for several days until authorities managed to evacuate them. According to the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the loss from both tourism sector and hospitality amount to around $4.1 million.
