In June, the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in a 5-4 vote to reverting abortion access in the country back to pre 1974 status and taking it away from many female citizens. The same had and by women who had meltdowns on social media over the loss of federal abortion protection also took the time to shout down other women. Female protests followed Masha Amini's murder in Iran at the hands of male police officers who beat her for not wearing a hijab properly. Women and girls demonstrated in the streets and online tearing off their hijab and in some cases cutting their hair.
