Kurdish leader Demetash is a very popular politician, particularly in the south east of Turkey. In 2015 he did rather well in the first parliamentary elections of that year and anyone in the government system found that to be a significant threat. And then after that, reignited and restarted a full scale war in the southeast of Turkey. It is hard to imagine things getting much worse in the southeast than they have already gotten.
