Reefs - The Three Dimensional Structure of a Reef
One of the main important things about a reef is it forms a three dimensional structure. A lot of environmental impacts can kill off the more delicate branching forms, first and most easily. And if you remove the three dimensional structure of a reef, well, if you chop down a rain forest, the trees, then the birds and monkeys go too.
