The Rise and Fall of Roberto Calvi
Roberto Calvi was born to a wealthy Milan family in 1920. He joins the Banco Ambrosiana, which is a small homespun outfit just after the Second World War. By the 1970s, when Calvi has risen to become its chief, the bank has followed a similar path to the Vatican bank. It's not the Cayman Islands, slightly off the beaten track, but with corrupt officials and tax loopholes that anyone could ever want.
