Tchaikovsky's Second Theme

Tchaikovsky goes back to his scale motif for an expansion on the second theme full of more pyrotechnics. In this passage, Tchaikovsky demands that the violinist play double stops, meaning two notes at the same time. This combined with the rapid crossing of strings necessary to play this passage makes it one of the most difficult in the whole piece.
