The actor model hasn't really been updated in quite a while. There are some papers in using actors to like simulate economical outcomes and models, because it's from agent base. In our medical simulation software, we started to move towards real time event processing. So there is might be some interest in that sort of sense as well. But it's not something that you reach for and want to push against the notion that you run around with the actor model in your head and you're looking for problems to solve with it.
