Cuba's Biggest Population Exodus Since the Revolution
A quarter of a million Cubans were intercepted at the US border in the 12 months ending in September. That's about 2% of the island's total population and up more than 400% from a year ago. If you have, as we do in the United States, a much more advanced medical system such that sickly children who otherwise would have died in utero actually make it to birth, you'll get a lower life expectancy rate.
