CHAPTER

The Relationship Between Lyndon Johnson and Robert Caro

Robert Caro had a rotten childhood. He would go to the library, check out a book, take it and read it in Central Park so he didn't have to go home. His mother dies of breast cancer. She thinks she gets sick when he was five. She finally passes away when he was 11. And for the rest of his life, he never wanted to come home. When he came home, his father yelled and his father screamed. But the point is that the source, the source of both Johnson's and Caro's greatest talents came from the dysfunctional relationship that they both had with their fathers.
