My Sisters in Morning

I love that everyone can kind of see themselves in a way in these works. My Sisters in Morning is full of two absent presences really well three it relates to this painting I did in just after my father died in 1983 which was with my mother in the centre of the bed and my four sisters kind of huddled round her. It's almost as if they're on a kind of raft drifting out to sea without a navigator but we're all kind of very protective around her. She started off sitting for it feeling very angry that my mother's dementia hadn't been spotted earlier by the by the health service, then gradually it came to be a feeling of peace.
