In the late eighties, there was a new technology that allowed you to basically take a gean from one species and move it into another. This was when genente and bio gin were like the beginnings of what became the biotec industry. The first products were really simple. Take the gean for human insolence, which diabetics can't make like my dadsdiabetic can't produce it. And that was the beginning of biote. It was using genetic engineering as a tool to develop new therapeutics.
