The reality of black women's lives incorporates racism, classism and the host of other negative attitudes held towards persons of color in america. Abuse, stereotyping and vilification about skin coloration, sexuality, ugliness stupidity remaind rampant in contemporary american life. So it was thus extremely difficult for black women to find a therapist who understood their issue. She further wrote about practising a kind of feminist therapy that specifically addressed the issues black woman faced in America.
