Is There a Need for Prisons?

If there's an increase in crime, there might not be even enough places to keep all those who law enforcement have arrested. It costs a lot of money to have prisons and support the prisoners and support the staff that oversees the prisoners. Maybe we've got enough prisons, but maybe we don't have enough courtrooms and judges to be able to try those who have been arrested and prosecute them. Either a bottleneck or a continued erosion of what are supposed to be, you know, fair trials.
