The Importance of Trustworthiness
As humans, being able to determine trustworthiness is a substantial survival factor. When I see inconsistent messaging, an alarm bell goes off in my mind. We can spot transactional exchanges from a mile away. Reddit has gotten so good at spotting self-promotional contributions that it's now built into their default sense of self-governance to forbid all marketing whatsoever.
