The Differences in the Germanic Language Family

Early indo european speaking people spoke words with a p sound, as is still represented in all the other Indo-European language families. As they migrated and spread out, these various tribes became isolated from each other,. Their languages evolved into distinct dialects and eventually into distinct languages. This represents a sound change within the very ly germanic speaking tribes. The original p sound began to be pronounced as an f sound. And that's why all the germanic languages to day have these words with an f instead of a p.
