The Power of Awe

We start off by asking people to place your attention on something that you value, appreciate or find to be amazing. When we exhale a little bit longer than normal, we activate something called the vagus nerve and it induces a state of relaxation. The sensations in our body were positive because we had started by focusing on something we value or appreciate. And so that's the process. It can be done in one breath cycle or if it's a little bit extended, it might be two or three breath cycles but it's very brief.
