In obama's final press conference a few weeks ago, he said, our goal continues to be to send a clear message to russia or others not to do this to us because we can do stuff to you on line. But i wonder if that sort of vagueness in what the stuff exactly is that we would be doing is actually indicative of the sort of particular difficulties and perhaps anonymity of siber deterrence. On syber space, you really can't go in and tell your adversary exactly what you're going to attack and how ar yo are going to attack it.
