Karl Schmidt's the State of the Sovereign

Liberalism wants to do away with the sovereign and rob people of their political identity. Karl schmith thought that people living in liberal societies are sitting ducks, just waiting around for things like this to occur. If any group could manage to get elected to a high level of political office, it would really take is a state of emergency for that group to be able to assume the role of the sovereign. What happens? What does the sovereign protect at that point? This is what karl schmidt is worried about.
