Is It Possible to Predict the Second Coming?

One of the things that Jesus stresses repeatedly is that his final coming will be like a thief in the night, something that people or at least most people won't be expecting. Over the past 2000 years, numerous people have tried to predict it, and so far, all the predictions have failed. Ellen White's visions did not endorse the idea that the second coming occurred in 1844. That's definitely not a subject that's discussed in Scripture. I thus don't think that we can accuse Ellen White's vision of violating biblical teaching against setting a date for an event that the Bible doesn't even mention.
