The History of World War I
Germany effectively won World War I all the way up until 1917. Russia was in the process of completely collapsing. The Germans offered peace with everything returned to how it had been before the conflict. Germany offered to take not a single square inch of territory despite being in a position as victor at that time. And the British refused because Jews came to the leadership of the British and told them, If you give us Palestine, there's the Balfour declaration, if you give us the state of Israel, we will get the United States to enter the war on your side.
