The Assyrians Sacked the City of Nineveh
The Neo-Assyrian Empire rained supreme over the entire ancient near-caste. The living were herded into long lines of prisoners, soon to become slaves or forced laborers. Other soldiers beheaded the corpses of the prominent dead and stacked them in a neat pile. It wasn't their first time sacking a venerable and once powerful urban center; it wouldn't be their last.
